Shakurov was born in
Novokuznetsk of Kemerovo region. From 1955 to 1959 he worked as a
planer at the mechanical
repair base. In 1961 he graduated from the Siberian Metallurgical
Institute specializing
in “Physical metallurgy, metal heat treatment process and equipment”.
From 1961 to 1962 worked
as foreman in the Sheet – Rolling Plant of the Orsk – Khalilovsk
Integrated Iron and
Steel Works in Novotroitsk of Orenburg region.
From 1962 to 1968 – the
senior engineer, Group Leader, Chief Designer at “Lengipromez”.
From 1968 to 1975 - the Chief Project Engineer. Since 1975 – the
Deputy Director for general
designing and since 1986
– the Chief Engineer of “Lengipromez”. In March of 1992 he was
appointed the Director
of “Lengipromez”. Valentin Ilyich was an experienced metallurgist and
organizer of design
work. Under severe conditions in the period of transition Shakurov has
managed to arrange the
work for reorganization of the Institute activities.
